GCSE Skills Lab – Small Group Courses

The GCSE Skills Lab is a series of small-group online courses focused on core English Language skills. Designed for students who want targeted input without the commitment of 1:1 tutoring, these 6-week blocks help sharpen reading and writing skills in a supportive, focused environment.

Format & Pricing

• Online only (delivered via Zoom)
• 40-minute sessions once per week
• £150 for each 6-week block
• Maximum 6 students per group
• Courses run on Tuesdays at 5:45 PM and 6:45 PM
• Courses cycle throughout the year to allow students to build confidence across different areas

What We Cover

Each Skills Lab focuses on a different core skill from the GCSE English Language papers:

• Reading Skills:
  Fiction and non-fiction comprehension, inference, writer’s methods, language analysis, comparison skills
• Writing Skills:
  Creative writing (descriptive and narrative)
  Transactional writing (argue, persuade, inform)

• One fully marked piece of writing with feedback
• Weekly skill-building tasks with targeted modelling
• High-engagement tasks designed to develop technique and confidence
